My PhD project concerns olfaction in the sorghum chafer, Pachnoda interrupta, which is a pest on Sorghum bicolor in Ethiopia. The beetle aggregates when feeding and mating, and I am studying the kairomones and pheromones involved in this behavior, both behaviorally in the field, and at the peripheral level of olfaction, with single sensillum recordings.
